Mit Unterstützung durch die Cologne Summer Schools der Universität zu Köln und den Kölner Gymnasial- und Stiftungsfonds bauen die Cologne Summer Schools der Europäischen Rechtslinguistk (CSS-ERL) auf einer Expertise in europäischer Rechtsetzung und Rechtsprechung auf. Diese ist in langjähriger Zusammenarbeit mit der Direktion Rechtsakte des Europäischen Parlaments in Brüssel sowie dem Europäischen Gerichtshof in Luxemburg entstanden und soll Theorie und Praxis der EU-Rechtsetzung zusammenführen. Die Studierenden verschiedener Fachrichtungen bearbeiten eine Fragestellung aus rechtlicher, linguistischer und rechtslinguistischer Perspektive, wobei die Themenfelder EU-Recht und -politik, Mehrsprachigkeit und Übersetzung eine besondere Rolle spielen.
Lernziele der Summer Schools umfassen:
- Sensibilisierung für Multilingualismus und authentische Mehrsprachigkeit in der EU
- Sensibilisierung für europapolitische und europarechtliche Fragestellungen
- Linguistische Denk- und Arbeitsweise
- Interdisziplinäre wissenschaftliche Arbeit und Textredaktion auf Englisch.

Supported by the Cologne Summer Schools of the University of Cologne and the "Kölner Gymnasial- und Stiftungsfonds", the Cologne Summer Schools of European Legal Linguistics (CSS-ERL) build on an expertise in European legislation and jurisprudence. This is the result of many years of cooperation with the Directorate for Legislative Acts of the European Parliament in Brussels as well as the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg and is intended to bring together the theory and practice of EU lawmaking. Students from different disciplines work on an issue from a legal, linguistic and jurisprudential perspective, with a special focus on EU law and policy, multilingualism and translation.
Learning objectives of the Summer Schools include:
- Raising awareness of multilingualism and authentic multilingualism in the EU
- Sensitisation to European policy and European law issues
- Linguistic thinking and working methods
- Interdisciplinary academic work and text editing in English.
