Unsere 5. Cologne Summer School in Europäischer Rechtslinguistik läuft.

Am 10. und 17. Juni 2023 fanden die Einführungsveranstaltungen und vom 7. bis 13. September 2023 die Präsenzphase in Köln statt.

Im Rechtsetzungslabor LegislEUlab bearbeiten die Teilnehmenden den Vorschlag der Kommission für eine VERORDNUNG DES EUROPÄISCHEN PARLAMENTS UND DES RATES ZUR FESTLEGUNG HARMONISIERTER VORSCHRIFTEN FÜR KÜNSTLICHE INTELLIGENZ (GESETZ ÜBER KÜNSTLICHE INTELLIGENZ) UND ZUR ÄNDERUNG BESTIMMTER RECHTSAKTE DER UNION, COM/2021/206 final.

Die Präsenzphase gestalteten dankenswerterweise erneut Lawyer-Linguists und MEPs mit, die am Rechtsakt mitwirken. Die Teilnehmenden beschäftigten sich in drei Arbeitsgruppen, die die Rolle der Kommission, des Rats und des Europäischen Parlaments im Rechtsetzungsprozess simulierten, mit dem Text des Rechtsakts in Bezug auf die Definition von KI, unbestimmte Rechtsbegriffe, Kohärenz von Schlüsselausdrücken, den Umgang mit fremdsprachlicher Terminologie sowie mit dem legislativen Prozess insgesamt, dem Unterschied von Durchführungsrechtsakten und delegierten Rechtsakten und den unterschiedllichen Positionen aller Beteiligten.

Die Ergebnisse werden 2024 in der Kölner Publikationsreihe Europäische Rechtslinguistik (KPER) Band 4 publiziert.

Our 5th Cologne Summer School for European Legal Linguistics is still up and running.

The kick-off events took place on June 10 and 17, 2023 and the attendance phase in Cologne from September 7 to 13, 2023.

For the exploration of the process of EU legislative drafting, the participants in the LegislEUlab are working on the Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL LAYING DOWN HARMONISED RULES ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ACT) AND AMENDING CERTAIN UNION LEGISLATIVE ACTS, COM/2021/206 final.

We are grateful for the input that lawyer-linguists and MEPs who are working on the legislative act gave to the participants! The participants in three teams simulating the role of the Commission, the Council and the European Parliament in the legislative process worked on the text of the legislative act with respect to the legal definition of AI, undetermined legal expressions, coherence of highly relevant expressions, foreign language terminology and with the legislative process as such, implementing and delegated acts, as well as the interests of all stakeholders.

The results of the summer school will be published as Kölner Publikationsreihe Europäische Rechtslinguistik (KPER) Vol. 4 in 2024.
